Dental Bonding
Dental Bonding at Legacy West Dental
Dental bonding is used as an alternative to teeth veneers and can be used in restoration of a tooth that is cracked, chipped, misarranged, or discolored.
How Does Dental Bonding Work?
Prior to the bonding procedure, the tooth is etched on the surface, and a bonding liquid is applied to the surface. After the liquid is properly set, the dentist applies and sculpts a plastic resin into the desired shape. Once the bond is fully set, the resin is trimmed for a final fit, smoothed, then polished to a beautiful, natural look and feel.
Is Dental Bonding Right for You?
When considering if dental bonding is the right treatment for you, take into account that most procedures can be completed fully in one single office visit. We believe this treatment will dramatically improve the appearance of the tooth. We emphasize, though, that dental bonding and the use of plastic resin are not as strong as natual tooth enamel and can potentially stain, chip, or even break. The typical lifespan of quality dental bonding is 3-5 years before requiring additional repair.
