What Does Whitening Entail?
At Legacy West Dental teeth whitening is quick, and inexpensive. Many patients choose to only whiten the top teeth while some choose to whiten both upper and lower teeth. You and the doctor and discuss these options while at any appointment in our office. Often this varies from patient to patient depending on how much of their smile reveals the tooth and gum line.
It will only require a few days to create the custom bleach splints. A special bleaching agent will be added to the splints which are clear. You will wear each splint for only a few hours daily.
The bleaching agents works by bubbling stains out of the enamel of your teeth. This process happens quickly and does not alter the integrity of the tooth. This process is only required for a short time and must only be repeated occasionally to maintain the new smile.
At Legacy West Dental teeth whitening will correct your tooth discoloration. Unsightly discoloration can be caused by staining, age, beverages, chemicals that damage teeth. Our whitening technology at Legacy West Dental offers to each patient a timely and safe process to a beautiful smile. For drastic cases, further treatments such as crowns or veneers might be necessary for extreme discoloration. For most cases, however, the low-cost whitening treatment is the most effective first line of treatment.
Teeth Whitening at Legacy West Dental
Our first step for teeth whitening will involve making an individualized “mouthguard” or sometimes referred to as a “stent” this will hold the bleaching agent on the tooth surface for the entire session of treatment. This process is used nightly for approximately 3-4 hours upon doctor’s recommendation and for a period of about 2 weeks.
Once the treatment has completely noticeable whitening will have occurred. In many patients, we see a brilliant level of whitening of the smile. Teeth whitening for most patients result in a dramatic increase in confidence in their appearance and happiness in their smile.
For most complex yellowing, aging, or deep staining often times a crown or dental veneers might be more appropriate.
Our Legacy West Dental staff and Dr. Jerit Davis and Dr. Amy Sojourner-Critz both believe in the highly effective difference in our bleaching agents as opposed to any over the counter ones found in a local pharmacy. Often times these products end up harming the gum line and teeth. We find it’s better to use the products we recommend specifically.
